Return to Dust Ignites Cardboard Sessions at Village Studios

Think grunge is dead? Think again. Return to Dust is here to prove otherwise—and they’re not asking for permission.

In one of the most explosive episodes of Cardboard Sessions to date, we welcome a band that doesn’t just play music—they bleed it. Born in Texas, shaped by California garages, and sharpened through open mic nights and relentless rehearsals, Return to Dust brings a raw authenticity that’s impossible to fake. Their sound? Heavy. Melodic. Gritty. Dual-vocal-driven. Imagine the soul of the '90s—Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age—poured into something completely fresh and fearlessly their own.

This session was captured inside the legendary Village Studios in Santa Monica, a former Masonic Temple turned recording sanctuary. Armed with instruments made of cardboard (yes, really), Return to Dust tore through their set with pure fire, proving once again that it’s not about the gear—it’s about the energy.

This one crackles. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s unforgettable.

Watch Return to Dust rise.
