Snowboards have traditionally been made of wood, resin, laminates, and P-Tex—until now! The Signal Snowboard’s factory crew, led by Founder Dave Lee give the board presses a rest this month and instead print out a brand new snowboard! Using new 3D printer technology, Dave Lee and Signal Engineer Jeb Ferria input a basic CAD drawing along with a carbon-based powder into a state of the art Connex 500 printer—the end result is a radical powder gun (no not that kind of gun—a snowboard) ready for riding in the steep and deep of Colorado. Signal Teamrider Matt Guess and Dave Lee put the board through the paces, and it passes with flying powder. Another ETT success story!

Signal riders, Casey Timms and Kyle Grant are true soul shredders. these dudes get after it harder than almost everyone and they do it all for the pure love of the sport. There passion is never hindered by geographic limitations and these dudes have been knowing to pack up and drive 14 hours when given even the slightest suspicion a storm might be coming. It’s this dedication that allows them to get some of the best lines, most amazing pow, and some of the most epic days on snow imaginable. Casey and KG put together this short edit to show off the fruits of their dedication. They have also entered it into a sweet video contest put on my Snowboard Magazine. So take a minute and check out the clip and then go get after it!

The Glass Snowboard rips! True twin, blunted nose and tail shape and the perfect amount of camber. The flex is medium to stiff and decent as you can see from the nose press in the episode. The cut glass shape held an edge perfectly and was most impressive on hard pack and icy spots on the hill. Something we just didn’t expect it to do.The speed when it broke loose was crazy! It was hard to keep up with at times. But nothing compared to the look of the board. In your hands or under your feet the world around you is your graphic with crystal clear clarity! Such a fun experiment with an unlikely material that in the end turned out to be more like ridable art.

With the amount of time and effort we put into Every Third Thursday, it’s always nice to get a little love back. Wired.com just released a super sweet article highlighting ETT and Signal as a whole. Every year the anticipation surrounding the latest installment in the Videograss collection grows higher and higher, and this year is no exception.
