Monsterpilot is Liz Lubanska and Brian Ho Sang. We work out of random locations in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We have been working in graphic design together for about 4 years. But we have known each other for much longer.

We both started working in design at the same time, we actually sort of stumbled onto graphic design as a career. I think it's because graphic design is so esoteric, not that many people realize what it is or what it does, and neither did we at the time. Once we did start to study design we fell in love with it. It was a nice balance of the interests that both of us have. Liz has always had an interest in fine arts and music, and I (Brian) have always loved skateboarding, which lead to my interest in photography and cinematography. The one aspect we loved most about it was that it has an endless amount of possibilities, and approaches, it can be so open and free.

Although we love design, neither of us could see ourselves working in a ad agency or a large scale design firm. We just see something contradictory about working creatively, and trying to have free flowing thoughts while being chained to a desk, or locked inside a cubical. So we decided to go on our own from the start, and build our agency from the ground up. We knew it would take a lot of work, and happen slowly over a long period of time (we are still in this stage), but, I think in the end it will be worth it.

By working on our own we get to not only choose which projects we will work on, but also, we can work on them in a way that is unique to us. In current times it seems like the computer is taking over and we try to design as much as we can with a pencil and a piece paper, it's not that we don't like computers, it just that we believe that the ideas come from your mind, not a machine. It is just the only way our process can work. I think Milton Glaser said it best: "Computers are to design as microwaves are to cooking."

This is the only way we could imagine it to happen, we put a lot of ourselves into our work for every project, and want to work on projects with people that put as much into their work as we do. Projects come and go, and every single one has the potential to be great no matter what the subject matter is, what's important to us is that the people we work with or work for see the same potential.

We are just happy and thankful that we can do what we do, with the people we want to do it with.
